WHAT IS FENIX?

Hygienic, versatile, resistant and durable, Fenix is a next-generation, heat-set HPL laminate that stands out for its special soft-touch, matt, fingerprint-resistant surfaces. However, the true novelty of Fenix comes from the use of exclusive nanotechnologies, which give its surface very limited porosity and ability to repair when heat is applied in the event of superficial scratches and abrasions.
Fenix panels consist of layers of cellulose, the inner sheets of which are impregnated with heat-set resins, while the outer layers are treated with acrylic resins. The assembly is then subjected to heat and pressure, and thanks to the use of nanotechnologies that modify its molecular structure, results in an even high-density product.

Fenix was recently classified into two types:

Fenix NTM^®
This is the better-known type of Fenix; it comes in a vast range of colours and has a soft-touch, matt surface.
Fenix NTA^®This type has the same characteristics as the type described above, but is the metallic version.

As Fenix reflects little light, it results in matt surfaces with deep, intense colours that are ideal for contemporary spaces but can also be combined with more classic materials, such as wood.
Soft-touch effect
The treatment to which Fenix surfaces are subjected gives them a characteristic velvety effect and lends a pleasant soft-touch effect.
Fingerprint-resistance
Fenix surfaces are fingerprint-resistant and therefore do away with a tiresome problem that characterises most other materials.
Hygiene and easy cleaning
Fenix boasts antibacterial and anti-mould properties, making it ideal for direct contact with food and therefore the perfect choice for worktops.
Waterproof
Thanks to their very limited porosity, Fenix surfaces are resistant to the penetration of liquids, even oils. This prevents the formation of the most common marks, even if they are not removed immediately.
Resistance to rubbing and solvents
Fenix surfaces are resistant to rubbing, abrasions and the acidic solvents most commonly used for kitchen maintenance. However, given the material’s very limited porosity, the use of this type of cleaning product is pointless and not recommended.
Heat-resistance
Fenix is highly resistant to dry heat, up to temperatures of 180 °C. The surface does not become deformed and does not melt, even when it comes into contact with the bottom of pans, coffee pots, etc.
Wide colour range
Fenix comes in a wide range of colours and thicknesses. Gentili Cucine offers a choice of 12 top and door colours.
Heat self-repairability
In the event of shallow scratches, Fenix surfaces can be repaired by applying a source of heat. Simply dampen the affected area with a wet cloth and direct the heat of a hot iron towards it to remove minor scratches and abrasions.

FENIX: MAINTENANCE AND CARE

The nanotechnologies used to manufacture Fenix make cleaning and routine maintenance extremely easy. Thanks to its very limited superficial porosity and resistance to the absorption of liquids and oils, it is sufficient to use a cloth wetted with warm water and a ordinary household cleaning product, if necessary. For particularly stubborn marks, a melamine foam sponge can be used on the dry surface.
Abrasive chemicals and sponges or metal scouring pads are to be avoided, as they could damage the Fenix surface.

SUSTAINABILITY AND RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Fenix has been carbon neutral-certified since December 2021. It has also obtained Greenguard Gold certification, attesting that no harmful volatile substances (VOC or volatile organic compounds) are released during its processing. The use of natural raw materials (cellulose and resins) and the hi-tech production process ensure considerable savings in CO₂ emissions.
