MODERN GREEN KITCHEN: DESIGN IDEAS AND TIPS

Thanks to the evolution of materials like Melamine, PET, High-pressure laminate (HPL), Fenix, Alkorcell and so on, the hues of green available on the market are almost countless. The various shades of green also pair well with other colours, like white, neutral colours like beige, light grey, ivory and taupe, and with materials such as steel, wood, and natural stone. It is, however, possible to identify some shades of green as a general guide.

• Aqua green A very light green characterised by a hint of blue, it is an excellent alternative to the usual clichés of a white or taupe kitchen. It is also ideal for small spaces and combines perfectly with textural finishes like crude cement-finish resins, bare stone or terracotta.
• Sage green Subtle and welcoming, it brings to mind nature and transmits feelings of harmony and serenity. It can be combined with materials like wood and steel and with neutral colours like white, cream or beige, and is the perfect accompaniment for a parquet floor.
• Mint green A pastel hue halfway between green and blue, mint green is a pale shade that brings rooms a fresh and lively touch. Ideal for shabby chic kitchens when paired with wood and pale colours, it can also be used for other styles like country or industrial chic.
• Olive green Covering all the different variants reflecting the stages of ripening of olives, olive green combines well with both copper and brass finishes and woods like oak and cherry.
• Petrol green Petrol green is composed of green and blue in almost equal parts (47% green and 53% blue), so much so that in some cases the term ‘petrol blue’ is used as a synonym. Deep and rich in tones, it is a shade that gives an environment a strong character, and is therefore preferable for use in spacious, well-lit spaces. It can be played down by pairing it with neutral colours.

All of these shades of green and the very many others in the different materials available are then further declined in high-gloss and matt finishes, which broadens the range of options for creating a modern green kitchen.
